A good choice for climbers who want to avoid the crowds, quietly spend their time and sleep to the sounds of the African wilderness. Mountain huts are sometimes crowded and noisy and camping avoids all that. The itinerary has relatively shorter walking days which allows climbers to gradually acclimatize and thus avoid altitude sickness. It also offers ample time to enjoy the beautiful scenery and learn about the geography and history of the mountain region.

Day 1: Nairobi-Nanyuki-Judmaier Camp

From Nairobi, drive for three hours to Nanyuki. Meet up with our crew and transfer to Mount Kenya Sirimon Park gate (2600m). On completion of park entry formalities, have picnic lunch then begin a 3-4 hour hike through forest. Ascend 700m through the bamboo, rosewood and heather vegetation to Old Moses camp. The forest and bamboo are home to hundreds of buffaloes, elephants, bushbucks and a plethora of bird species. Dinner and overnight at Judmaier Camp (3300m)
